Scholarships available for the Ticonderoga Early Learning Center

Scholarships are now available for children enrolling at the TCELC

Ticonderoga, NY, 3/26/2025
– The Ticonderoga Community Early Learning Center (TCELC) has announced the availability of new scholarships to help families afford childcare. A number of families who are not eligible for
state childcare subsidies may be eligible for some generous scholarships that could make childcare at the TCELC affordable for private payers.

It’s not unusual for families to not be eligible for state childcare subsidies. The qualifications are very restrictive and often come with conditions that can’t be met. Income levels just above the limit, or an underemployed
parent can leave families in childcare “limbo”, unable to afford to pay privately, but still needing childcare. “Scholarship programs can make enrollment in the center possible for those families,” said Jackie Palandrani,
director of the center.

The Ticonderoga Community Early Learning Center, operated by Silver Bay YMCA, has information available for two scholarship programs. The first program is available through the Workforce Development Initiative and is funded by NY state. Specifically aimed at supporting working families that don’t qualify for subsidies, the NY State Child Care Scholarship Program is designed to offset childcare costs and allow parents to spend their resources on other essential needs that contribute to their family’s well-being.

A family of 4 with income below $124,800/year can qualify for up to $1,000/month in childcare support. Families that may have been turned down for state subsidies in the past should visit the website at https://wdiny.org/explore-our-work/child-care-subsidy-program and click the “Am I Eligible?” link to fill out the inquiry form. After filling out the form, someone from WDI will be in touch. Support is available for both fulltime and part-time attendance, and funds would be available for enrollment beginning April 1, 2025.

To be sure that every child that would like to attend the center is not constrained by funding, Silver Bay YMCA has also created a scholarship fund for families that might not qualify for either state subsidy or the WDIprogram. They can still get financial help for childcare through a donor supported scholarship fund. Funds would be available immediately for this program for full- or part-time participants in all age ranges from 6 weeks to 5 years.

About the TCELC – At the YMCA, we understand that each child develops at their own rate and in their own unique way. We are committed to providing your child with a program that not only meets the developmental needs of their age group, but a program that meets the needs of your child as an individual.

Each child’s individuality is respected, and children are encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings as they try new things, grow, and experience the world around them.
