Silver Bay YMCA awarded Charles R. Wood Foundation Grant

Silver Bay awarded grant for Ticonderoga Teen Center

– Silver Bay YMCA was selected as a recipient for a $5,000 grant from the Charles R. Wood Foundation for its Ticonderoga Teen Center program.

The Charles R. Wood Foundation was founded in 1978 by Charles R. Wood to provide assistance to worthwhile organizations supporting children, healthcare and the arts in the area. The Charles R. Wood Foundation has
made over $25 million in financial contributions through over 1,200 grants awarded.

The Silver Bay YMCA Ticonderoga Teen Center is a vital program for the community Silver Bay YMCA Education Director Jackie Palandrani explained. “The Silver Bay YMCA Ticonderoga Teen Center plays a vital role in our
community by offering teens a fun and secure space to connect each day. Here, they receive homework support, learn valuable life skills like cooking, and have the opportunity to meet new people, all while growing in a safe and welcoming environment.”

Silver Bay YMCA’s VP of Development and Government Relations added, “We are immensely grateful for the support from the Wood Foundation again this year. The Ticonderoga Teen Center is such a crucial part of youth development in our community. We are so pleased that the important work we do with teens is recognized and rewarded by generous foundations like Charles R. Wood.”

The Teen Center is a free drop-in program for teens in the Hague, Ticonderoga, and Putnum area and is open five days a week during the school year. At the Teen Center participants have the option to participate in
structured programming such as cooking lessons, receive homework help, or hangout with friends.
