Ticonderoga – The Ticonderoga Community Early Learning Center (TCELC) operated by Silver Bay YMCA, has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Charles R. Wood Foundation.
“We are sincerely appreciative of the Charles R. Wood Foundation for their generous support. Their clear dedication to strengthening early learning and high-quality childcare throughout the North Country makes them an invaluable community ally. Their commitment gives us the momentum needed to build a program that will truly make a difference for local families, stated Walt Lender, Vice President of Development and Government Relations at Silver Bay YMCA.
The TCELC is a curriculum-based early learning center for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years located in the heart of Ticonderoga, 64 Amherst Ave. The TCELC offers flexible scheduling to help meet all childcare needs, meals for the children while they’re at the center, and the Creative Curriculum which supports active learning through hands-on project-based activities.
Silver Bay YMCA Education Director, Jackie Palandrani said, “Curriculum-based early learning centers give children a strong foundation for future success. When young learners engage with intentional, developmentally appropriate curriculum, they build essential skills; social, emotional, cognitive, and physical, that set the stage for lifelong learning. High-quality early education doesn’t just prepare children for school; it nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning that carries them forward.”
The Charles R. Wood Foundation Grant will help support TCELC staffing costs, training, utilities, food, small equipment and supplies.
