TICONDEROGA – The Silver Bay YMCA Ticonderoga Teen Center has been awarded a Stewart’s Holiday Match Grant of $1,000 to help with operational costs associated with the Teen Center.
The Teen Center is a free after school drop-in program open five days a week during the school year for area youth aged 12 to 18 years old that provides homework help, teaches life skills such as cooking, and provides a safe place for teens to socialize after school.
“The Teen Center is a vital part of our community,” said Silver Bay YMCA Educational Director Jackie Palandrani, “it provides teens with a safe and welcoming place to learn, grow, connect, and most importantly to be a kid.”
Silver Bay YMCA VP of Development and Government Relations Walt Lender added, “The Stewarts Holiday Match Program has been a tremendous supporter of the Teen Center. They recognize the importance of supporting youth in their market areas by awarding grants to programs like ours. We are deeply honored to be a recipient of the Stewart’s Holiday Match Grant.”
Stewart’s Shops has collected and matched donations in their shops from Thanksgiving until Christmas since 1986. This year, they received over 1,866 applications requesting over $4 million in support, with just over $1.8 million to donate. The Stewart’s Holiday Match Program has now allocated over $40 million since the program’s inception.
