Ticonderoga Community Early Learning Center prepares to open
Childcare center plans for September opening
Silver Bay – Silver Bay YMCA has been working closely with Ticonderoga Revitalization Alliance and St. Mary’s Parish over the past year to open a childcare center in Ticonderoga at 64 Amherst Ave, the former St. Mary’s
school.
The Early Learning Center can care for up to 50 youths ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years old, with room for expansion.
The Early Learning Center will be utilizing “Creative Curriculum” in its classrooms, which is a learning curriculum for all ages.
“The Ticonderoga Community Early Learning Center is proud to implement the ‘Creative Curriculum,’ a comprehensive, research-based approach that integrates exploration and discovery into learning. This curriculum supports active learning through hands-on, project-based activities that promotecognitive, social, and emotional development. By focusing on the whole child, it encourages curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills. Our dedicated educators will use this curriculum to create a nurturing environment where children feel safe to explore and confident to learn, laying the foundation for a lifetime of academic and personal success,” Silver Bay YMCA’s VP of Programs Uriah Rodriguez explained.
Jackie Palandrani, who was formally Silver Bay YMCA’s youth and teen director, was promoted to education director to oversee all youth and teen programming run by Silver Bay. Palandrani has been working at Silver Bay for over 20 years.
Palandrani’s goal is to get the Early Learning Center ready to open in September. To do so a few more key steps need to be completed before the center can open its doors.
Hiring is one of the more crucial key steps that needs to be completed before the center can open. Currently the center is hiring teachers, assistant teachers, an administrative assistant, and childcare aides.
All interested individuals are encouraged to apply for these open positions. Silver Bay YMCA will help applicants get all the certifications they need to work at the Early Learning Center on a case-by-case basis.
Palandrani stated, “There’s an apprenticeship we will send people through. We will support our teachers in a career in early education.”
On top of providing access to the certifications needed to work at the Early Learning Center, a great benefits package comes with the job as well.
“Most childcare centers aren’t able to provide benefits, we are fortunate to be able to offer great benefits,” Palandrani stated about working at the Early Learning Center.
Early Learning Center full-time employees will receive standard Silver Bay YMCA benefits including paid time off, free summer camp/childcare (space permitting), health care, Y Retirement, and more!
Additionally, the Early Learning Center is still accepting applications for enrolling youth in the program. Applications are available through the Ticonderoga Revitalization Alliance and can be turned into the Ti Alliance or Jackie Palandrani at Silver Bay YMCA (87 Silver Bay Road, Silver Bay, NY, 12874).
