SILVER BAY – Silver Bay YMCA is pleased to announce that they have received a $7,000 grant from The Glens Falls Foundation to upgrade the sound system in the Auditorium for public performances.
Throughout the year Silver Bay provides meaningful opportunities for artistic expression, community engagement, and access to diverse performances that might otherwise be unavailable locally. These opportunities include the Summer Concert Series, Evenings of Dance, theatrical productions, and Silver Bay’s Mountain Music Festival. Last year, over 3,800 individuals saw a performance in Silver Bay’s Auditorium.
The grant from the Glens Falls Foundation allows us to upgrade our wireless microphones, stage box, and mixer from analogue to digital.
“This allows the audio to be clearer and more precise, as well as having a greater flexibility with the wide range of events that the Silver Bay Auditorium holds,” explained Silver Bay YMCA CSU supervisor Aaron Walker.
In 2024, Silver Bay YMCA initially invested in the Auditorium’s sound system by replacing the 1999 sound desk.
“We are so grateful to the Glens Falls Foundation for awarding us this grant. The Auditorium has been a beloved space at Silver Bay since 1908 and we are so grateful to the Glens Falls Foundation for helping us continue to invest in this cherished space,” Silver Bay YMCA VP of Development and Government Relations Walt Lender stated.
The new equipment has been installed just in time for Silver Bay’s 2026 Summer Concert Series, which kicks off June 20 at 8 p.m. with a performance by The Wolff Sisters – who first played at Silver Bay YMCA last September as the closing concert for the Concert Series.
Silver Bay YMCA Arts and Humanities Supervisor Madeline Drexler added, “We’re so excited to welcome The Wolff Sisters back to Silver Bay. They brought so much energy to our stage last year that we couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the Concert Series than with them this year.”
“We have so many talented performers that will be gracing our stage this summer. If you’re looking for something to do Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., make sure you take advantage of this free community offering,” Drexler continued.
Silver Bay YMCA’s Summer Concert Series is free and open to the public. It officially starts Saturday, June 20 at 8 p.m. and runs every Saturday until September 5, 2026. There will be no concert on Saturday August 15, as an Evening of Dance performance will take place instead.
