Embrace Tradition, Enhance the Future

The renovation of Bayview Lodge represents an investment in the future of the Silver Bay experience, creating a space that better serves guests, families, wedding groups, and conference attendees for generations to come. Designed with comfort, accessibility, and connection in mind, the updated building will offer modern amenities such as air conditioning, updated guest accommodations, and improved year-round usability while remaining rooted in the welcoming spirit and affordability that guests have long cherished. The vision is not to price guests out of the experience, but rather to thoughtfully enhance the quality, comfort, and functionality of the accommodations so more people can enjoy meaningful time at Silver Bay throughout every season.

The renovation will also create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for guests of all ages and abilities. Expansive indoor and outdoor gathering areas will provide more opportunities for community, reflection, conversation, and connection. Whether guests are attending a conference, reuniting with family, or simply enjoying the beauty of Lake George, this new building is being designed to foster comfort, accessibility, and togetherness at every level.

Additional Information

Silver Bay’s greatest business opportunities lie with attracting smaller conferences and retreats, family reunions, and weddings. A fully renovated Bayview Lodge will best suit these growing audiences.

Bayview was determined to have the greatest potential for a quick return on investment.  An upgrade in room design, common areas, and climate control will be attractive to guests and encourage new and returning visitors.

With predicted increased occupancy for a renewed Bayview, additional annual revenue is expected in the $500,000 – $700,000 range.

We are looking for donors to make an investment in Silver Bay’s future to ensure long-term sustainability. A rejuvenated Bayview Lodge will attract new guests and improve the campus’ aesthetics.

Costs of construction labor and materials have skyrocketed in recent years. And there are always unanticipated developments when rehabbing older buildings.  Our policy is to place 20% of capital projects in reserve to fund future maintenance needs.  Below is an approximate general breakdown of costs:

  • $3,850,000 – Estimated reconstruction costs, including fixtures, furnishings, etc.*
  • $770,000 – 20% future maintenance fund
  • $385,000 – 10% construction contingency fund
    • Total: $5,005,000

*This estimate is in the process of being verified by several potential construction contractors.

Your support of the Bayview project is more than a donation – it’s a direct investment in Silver Bay’s future that will directly impact the bottom line. A $5 million investment in Bayview is expected to return 10 – 14% of the cost ($500,000 – $700,000) in new revenue for Silver Bay annually.  These funds can then be used to support other capital projects.

  • Summer 2026 – Intense period of awareness building and fundraising.
  • Fall/Winter 2026 – Requests For Proposal submitted to obtain contractors’ bids; General Contractor selected; Final construction budget determined.
  • Spring/Summer 2027 – Continued fundraising and awareness building. Designs finalized.
  • Fall 2027 – Spring 2028 renovation work
  • Late Spring 2028 – Renewed Bayview Lodge open for guests

No, this is our consultant’s “concept drawing”.  Final exterior and interior colors, materials, and furnishings will be determined at a later date, with the assistance of a design committee.

Yes, the Inn will be addressed next as Phase 2 of this capital campaign.  It is likely to require a $15 million goal to complete necessary climate control, room and bath upgrades, etc.  Buildings such as Hepbron, Sunnyside, the Coop and Stonehouse, have been assessed by an historic preservation architect and determined to be salvageable.  They will be addressed in the future with Historic Preservation programs.

Donations are the most meaningful and direct way to support the Bayview renovation project. Every contribution helps bridge the gap between current resources and the future we are building together, while also strengthening Silver Bay’s overall operations and long-term sustainability. Your support ensures that Bayview remains a place where people can gather, grow, and experience the beauty of Lake George for years to come.
