Welcome to Silver Bay’s Visual Arts hub. The Squire Studio is an arts and crafts center operated year-round by artists and enthusiasts of all kinds!

Art has a special way of engaging the mind to unlock the life-changing power of creativity. From process to final product art is a visceral reminder to slow down, explore, and express ourselves in meaningful ways. When we connect with our inner selves, we are better equipped to show up and connect in our communities. The Squire Studio offers all of our members and guests the opportunity to make their vacation a fully rounded experience. Make sure to stop by to say hello – and create a souvenir to remember us by!

Offerings

IMPORTANT NOTE: Even small stained glass pieces will usually take around 3-4 hours to complete. Make sure you plan your studio time accordingly!

Create custom designs on a leather bracelet, keychain, bookmark, ornament, or bag-tag before learning how to apply a final stain so you can enjoy your creation for years to come! and more!

Choose from our vast collection of beads to design and string your own earrings, bracelet, necklace, keychain, or rosary while learning basic beading techniques.

Along with all our other wonderful crafts for kids, find a fun, age-appropriate craft that encourages creativity, exploration, and hands-on making. Examples of available kids crafts include: greeting card making, painting (paper, canvas, tree cookies, wooden magnets, children’s aprons, ceramic figurines, etc.), toy car building, children’s watercoloring (not affiliated with the Silver Bay Watercolor program), and so much more!  Taught in an open studio/DIY model.

Guests and Members of all ages are invited to participate in these crafts! Children ages 11 and under will need adult supervision. 

Keep your favorite lyric or personal motto close at all times when you personalize a metal ring, bracelet, pendant, or other accessory with our collection of letter, number, and symbol stamps!

Periodically offered Paint & Sips/Paint & Snacks offer the opportunity to relax, sip, and paint as an instructor guides you step-by-step through a fun, social painting experience.  Taught in a class sign-up model. Sessions for the general community will be available for sign-ups on UltraCamp.

Guests and Members must be at least 21 years of age for a Paint & Sip and at least 5 years of age for a Paint & Snack. Children ages 5-11 will need adult supervision. If you are interested in booking a private Paint & Sip/Snack event, contact the Program team via email at program@silverbay.org.

Each Summer Silver Bay invites artists to property for up to 1 week to offer specialty pop-up classes to our guests and members. Our Guest Artist line-up changes each year. Past classes include: Landscape Quilting, Stone Setting (in Silver), Pinecone Wreaths, Tapestry Weaving, Junk Journaling/Intuitive Collaging, Knitting, and more! Be sure to check out the Breeze Live Feed to see if there will be a guest artist during your stay.

Learn the basics of working with silver as you saw, shape, and solder simple jewelry pieces to make your very own ring, bracelet, earrings, or pendant! Guests and Members must be at least 16 years of age to participate in Silversmithing.

Taught in an open studio/walk-in model with capacity limits, closed toed shoes required.

Explore color and glass as you apply enamel to fun copper shapes and fire vibrant designs using beginner-safe techniques. Walk out with a one-of-a-kind keychain, magnet, or pendant to cherish forever! 

Guests and Members must be at least 5 years old to participate in the craft. Children ages 5-11 will need adult supervision. Taught in an open studio/walk-in model with capacity limits.

Fall in love with one of the worlds oldest and most enduring crafts! Learn the ancient art of braiding and weaving natural materials into a basket you can use and admire every day! Taught in a hybrid class/walk-in model with capacity limits. Beginner and Intermediate classes are offered weekly along with open studio hours. Reserve your spot in a class via UltraCamp. 

Guests and Members must be at least 12 years old to participate in this craft.

Take a seat at one of our Silver Bay sewing machines and experiment with textiles through simple sewing, embellishing, and surface design techniques. Use some of our fabrics to make your own quilt, hat, bag, or whatever your creativity desires. You can also bring in old fabrics or clothing to make a custom, upcycled piece. Never learned to use a sewing machine before? Check out our Sewing 101 classes on UltraCamp to reserve a spot during your stay!  Taught in a hybrid class/walk-in model with capacity limits.

Learn the basics of loom or inkle weaving as you create woven pieces of all shapes and sizes using our large collection of yarn and fibers.

Try new and different mediums in one of our specialty classes such as Tie Dye, Gyotaku, or Needle Felting. These classes are not available every day of the week so make sure to keep an eye on the calendar for dates and times! Taught in an walk-in model with time and capacity limits depending on the craft.

FAQs

Yes and no. Our studio supplies all the materials and expertise needed to help your creativity come to life, but for most crafts we do need to charge a fee to keep the magic alive. Prices vary based on craft, size, and material and we accept cash, card, and Apple/Google Pay. We do have select crafting options available for freee though, so make sure to stop by regardless!
