SILVER BAY, NY — The Silver Bay YMCA Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Lucas Callahan has been selected as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer.

Callahan has served as Silver Bay YMCA’s Interim Chief Executive Officer since October 2025, following previous leadership roles as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Guest Experience. His appointment follows a nationwide search facilitated by YMCA of the USA and supported by the Alliance of New York State YMCAs.

“Lucas brings a rare combination of leadership, hospitality experience, local knowledge, and a deep understanding of what makes Silver Bay such a meaningful place,” said Elise Walton, Chair of the Silver Bay YMCA Board of Trustees. “Throughout the search process, the Board remained focused on identifying a leader who could honor Silver Bay’s history while guiding its next chapter with clarity, care, and confidence. We are thrilled that Lucas is that leader.”

Callahan grew up in Fort Ann, New York, and earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Plattsburgh in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management. His career in hospitality began early, working his way through a variety of roles before gaining experience with The Sagamore Resort, Ocean Properties Ltd., The Westin Key West and Sunset Key, The Longboat Key Club, and Blue Water Manor. Since joining Silver Bay YMCA, Callahan has helped strengthen guest experience, operations, financial performance, and staff leadership.

“Stepping into the interim role has given me the opportunity to listen, learn, and build relationships with so many of Silver Bay’s stakeholders,” said Callahan. “I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and excited for the opportunity to continue serving this extraordinary community. Silver Bay is a place of connection, reflection, and renewal — a place with enough space to get away and enough programming to come together.”

Silver Bay YMCA, located on the shores of Lake George in New York’s Adirondack Park, has served generations of families, youth, faith communities, nonprofit leaders, educators, and guests since its founding in 1902. Today, Silver Bay continues to operate as a year-round destination-based YMCA offering conferences and retreats, family programs, youth development and education, spiritual life programming, arts and humanities experiences, recreation, and community-focused initiatives.

“As we look ahead, the Board has great confidence in Lucas’s ability to lead Silver Bay with both respect for its legacy and a clear focus on its future,” Walton said. “His commitment to service, operational and financial acumen, ability to build and maintain productive relationships, and hands-on leadership style reflect the spirit of Silver Bay and the promise of what comes next.”

In addition to his work at Silver Bay, Callahan has deep roots in the greater Lake George Community. He has served as a board member of Operation Santa Claus, as both a board member and Vice President of the Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves on the Town of Lake George Planning Board. He lives in Lake George with his wife, Lauren, and their two sons.
