Silver Bay YMCA Receives Y USA Achievery Grant
Grant to help expand Ticonderoga Teen Center offerings
SILVER BAY, NY – Silver Bay YMCA is excited to announce that the Silver Bay YMCA Ticonderoga Teen Center has been awarded $15,000 by Y USA for the 2024-2025 The Achievery(SM) Out of School Time Grant, providing funds for The Achievery Program and new equipment at the Teen Center.
The Achievery, created by AT&T, is a free digital learning platform designed to make distance learning more entertaining, engaging, and inspiring for today’s connected students wherever they are – at home, in the community, or in the classroom. The Achievery is part of AT&T’s Connected Learning program and a company-wide commitment to narrow the digital divide and homework gap.
The Achievery helps connect students to a new world of digital learning by offering entertaining educational content paired with engaging lesson plans and learning activities. All learning activities are designed for students K-12, created by leading nonprofits, aligned to academic standards, and reviewed by education experts.
“The YMCA of the USA’s Achievery Grant program is an incredible addition to our Ticonderoga Teen Center, providing teens with access to cutting-edge digital learning tools and resources. This national collaboration between the Y and The Achievery empowers teens to thrive in digital environments, bridges the technology gap, and supports academic success. We’re excited to bring this innovative platform to our local youth, helping them learn, grow, and succeed in today’s digital world,” Silver Bay YMCA VP of Programs Uriah Rodriguez stated.
Silver Bay YMCA VP of Development and Government Relations Walt Lender said on the award of the grant, “We are so pleased to receive this grant from the YMCA of the USA for the great work at our Ticonderoga Teen Center. Silver Bay is uniquely positioned to have access to these YMCA funds for the services we provide to the youth of our community. Our youth rely on the Teen Center for growth and guidance as they become responsible members of our community.”
