Upcoming Events announced at Silver Bay YMCA
Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and more events planned at Silver Bay YMCA
The weather is getting warmer, and Silver Bay YMCA is ready to celebrate and have fun! Silver Bay YMCA is excited to announce its upcoming events for May and June.
Starting May 10 through May 13, Silver Bay will be celebrating Mother’s Day with its Mother’s Day Weekend celebration! Silver Bay has a weekend full of events planned from kid’s crafts on Friday, May 10, open hours at the archery range and Boathouse on Saturday, to Mother’s Day Brunch and Family Photo Sessions on Sunday.
Silver Bay YMCA Assistant VP of Campus and Conference Programs Chet Lastowski said, “We are excited to be hosting a weekend to celebrate Mothers! There are activities for the whole family to participate in and then there are activities for Moms to pamper themselves.”
The celebration continues at the end of May with Silver Bay’s Memorial Day Weekend Celebration May 24 through May 27. From Trivia Night on Friday, May 24, a free community concert by the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir followed by a free community firework show donated by the Phinney Design Group on Saturday, a Family Field Day and Memorial Day BBQ on Sunday, to a Memorial Day Remembrance Salute at 6:30 a.m. followed by a morning hike to Inspiration Point on Monday, May 27.
“Memorial Day Weekend is action packed! There are a multitude of outdoor activities; hikes, archery, boating, etc. We are opening our Summer Concert Series that Saturday evening, followed by a fireworks show. Families will be able to participate and compete in a number of games and fun activities. We will be making sure to recognize the significance of the weekend with a Remembrance Salute for those who gave all in service to our country,” Lastowski added.
Silver Bay YMCA’s Executive Chef and Kitchen Manager Anthony Basile spoke to the upcoming food service-related events.
“It is an exciting year for us here at Silver Bay! We are offering multiple different events and extras from the Food Service department to continue to provide our guests and patrons with fresh, quality meals as well as a different experience.
“Public community events coming soon include a Mother’s Day Brunch and a Memorial Day BBQ. For our guests staying on campus this summer, we are planning on different dining options throughout the week like a BBQ on Wednesdays on the patio as well as a lobster boil on Thursdays at the Boathouse.
“Our pop-up restaurant, The Mountain View Grille, will be opening back up soon for guests and the community and we will be seating on our screened-in porch and patio during the summer months. Lastly, Bites at the Bay, our to-go restaurant for boaters delivered right to our docks, will be open 6 days a week this summer. We look forward to serving everyone and really showcasing what we can do.”
Both The Mountain View Grille and Bites at the Bay are anticipated to reopen by early to mid-June.
